Sandown Park Golf Centre is based at More Ln, Esher, Surrey. Known as Surrey’s premier golf location it has a 33 bay floodlight driving range.
The facility was going through a major regeneration to modernise its facilities and broaden its appeal to golfers and the wider community. With this forward thinking approach in mind, the robots were the perfect fit for the facility’s aspirations.
The first stage saw the introduction new raised targets. The implementation of the targets make them not only robot friendly, but a enjoyable focal point that golfers can aim for and allow them to see more clearly how the ball has landed.
The second phase saw the installation of the BigMow robot lawn mower and the robot ball collector BallPicker. Along with the automated ball wash and return system. The robot technology will provide Sandown Park with a modern approach to outfield maintenance, by automating the collection, wash and return of range balls to the dispenser.
The overall health of the outfield will be transformed as the robots are lightweight in comparison to traditional equipment. This coupled with the robot lawn mowers unique mulching technique, allows the grass clippings decompose within 72 hours. This acts as a natural fertiliser and means there isn’t the added headache of green waste to dispose of.
Feedback from the owners at Sandown Park Golf Centre stated
“We are building 5 new raised greens and 4 new chipping greens as part of the 6060 targets range, and clearing up the range to give it a fresh clean look and easier to see where your shots land. And are looking forward to utilizing the new automatic robotic ball collector and mower”
